Medical assistance programs provide payment to health care providers. Eligibility is determined by the Office for Family Independence. Bill payment and other activity are done by the Office of MaineCare Services.
Maine has several income tax credits that are available for taxpayers to reduce their Maine income tax liability. These credits apply against the State of Maine income tax and are separate from federal income tax credits that are used to reduce a taxpayer’s federal tax liability.
Maine TANF is financial assistance to keep children in their homes while the family is temporarily unable to support themselves. While receiving assistance, parents or caretaker relatives work on an employment plan to become self-supporting.
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of Maine, either pregnant or responsible for a child under 19 years of age, a U.S. national, citizen, legal alien, or permanent resident, have low or very low income.
