The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), funded by the U.S. Department of Energy, provides low-income residents technical and financial assistance to help reduce their energy bills by making their homes.
The DC Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a special tax break, based on the federal EITC, designed specifically for low- and moderate-income workers. People who qualify for the EITC will pay less in taxes or even get cash back.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is the new name for the federal Food Stamp Program. The Districts’ SNAP program helps income eligible residents and families buy the food they need for good health.
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be:
- A resident of the District of Columbia
- Either pregnant or responsible for a child under 19 years of age
- A US national, citizen, legal alien, or permanent resident
- Have low or very low income, and
- Be either under-employed (working for very low wages),
unemployed or about to become unemployed.
The office was established to provide veteran benefits, assistance, information, outreach, effective advocacy, claims processing assistance and service provider coordination to veterans and their families so that they can access their entitled resources and benefits.
