Evaluating Specific Resources

Website Review

Take a few minutes to browse the website, What makes it credible? Evaluate the following websites based upon the 5Ws (and H): Who, What, Where, When, Why and How.

Consider the following:

  • At the very bottom of the page we see the Tom Way is the copyright holder of this website. Does he have any other credentials?
  • Looking at the homepage, are there features indicating that this may not be a trustworthy site?
  • Does this site provide verifiable outside references? HINT: Click on the Unites Stated EAC link at the top left of the page.
  • Return to the homepage by clicking on the link a the bottom of the web page. Click on the Alerts & Advisories link on the bottom left side of the homepage. This site indicates this is a NEW feature (in red). This link brings visitors to a list of linked reports. Are this reports current?

After browsing the webpage from, can we trust that it passes the criteria as a credible website source? If answering yes, then chances are the website is a source of credible information. If answering no, then you may want to consider an alternate source. website screen capture
