It also strives to promote best practices in public health and to advocate for critical public health issues.

This is a national professional society for environmental health professionals, the purpose of which is to establish a standard of excellence in the field. The standard is now known as the Registered Environmental Health Specialist credential. it means that the environmental health professional has mastered an extensive body of knowledge so that he or she can perform well in the field of environmental health.

The purpose of APHL is to increase the strength of the laboratory system in the US and world to better protect public health. Member laboratories detect and monitor public health issues and threats that can range from serious infectious diseases to genetic disorders. This association has a diverse membership base, consisting of state and local public health labs in the US from very diverse fields, including environmental and agricultural science, food safety and public health.

The Association of Occupational and Environmental Clinics was founded in 1987, and its purpose is to improve the practice of both the occupational and environmental medical field through the sharing of information and collaborative research. The main goal of the organization is to help to prevent both occupational and environmental illnesses through collaborative reports and complete investigation of health problems.
