Guide to Gale eBooks

Searching in Gale eBooks

Researchers can also conduct a conventional keyword search using the search tools in Gale eBooks.

  • Enter keywords into the search boxes at the top of the search screen, as you would with any search box.
  • As you type, suggestions will actively come up.  Keep using your own keywords or click on any suggestions to use that as your search instead.
  • The default Basic Search option will search all fields in records about the book as well as the book's full text.  Use the dropdown menu to search Subjects or Publication titles only, or click Advanced Search for more fields, including Document Title and Author.

Navigating Results

  • Results will be displayed by Relevance.  You can change this to sort by Document Title, Publication Date, Publication Title, or Content Level.
  • The Filter Your Results column on the right displays available filters.  The most useful are:
    • Filter by Document Type.  Use this to filter to a type of document, some being very specific compared to other databases with options like case studies or biography.
    • Filter by Subject.  Use this to quickly select a subject to filter your results within.
