Finding Association Websites

Associations are great resources for finding information about careers, continuing education, topics of interest in that field,  current issues for that field, and networking.  A Google search for your field and the word association will help you find association websites.

An example:  medical office management association

Educational Resources

Association websites are a great place to find continuing education resources or information about certification requirements. Continuing education and certifications will give you an edge in the job market because it shows that you are aware of what is happening in the field and continuing to build your knowledge.

The America Association of Healthcare Administrative Management is an example of an association website that makes that information easy to find.

Professional Journals

This resource explains the difference between peer reviewed, trade, and popular journals.  From that table you can see that professional journals could be either peer reviewed and/or trade publications because both of those publications are geared towards people interested in a specific field of study or discipline.  In fact, it is not uncommon for an association to publish a peer reviewed journal as well as a trade publication. There are a few ways to find professional journals.

1. Look through association websites.

2. Look through the subject guides located in the Library

3. Search the Library's collections.
