Government agencies and public institutions worldwide publish an enormous amount of data and statistics annually.  If you are looking for statistics and public data across disciplines, check out these free search tools:

Enigma Public - Claiming to be the "world's largest collection of government information," Enigma Public links to over 100,000 data sets from over 100 countries in a single search interface.

Data.gov - Browse or search through U.S. federal and local datasets.  Use the Data and Topics sections linked to at the top of the site to search or browse for datasets.

Google Public Data Explorer - Not as robust as the other links here, but Google does offer searchable Public Data through the familiar Google interface.

If you are ever looking for a specific statistic or data set and can't find it, click here to ask a librarian.
