Laurie Bastien, Reference Librarian
Laurie earned a Bachelor of Arts in English degree from the University of Massachusetts, and her teaching license from Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts. While working in the public library system in Overland Park, Kansas, Laurie realized that while she'd never be a real-life Nancy Drew or Amelia Earhart, she could pursue a career as a librarian, which is essentially like being a detective and explorer all wrapped up together. Laurie earned a Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of South Carolina. While working toward her library degree, Laurie taught English at the High School level. Some of her favorite books she always loves to recommend include To Kill a Mockingbird, The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, and The Weight of Silence. She has been working for the University for over 15 years.
